Nivani – A Story Woven with Love, Memories & Strength
Nivani was born from a simple belief—that a saree is much more than six yards of fabric. It is a memory, an emotion, a legacy passed from one generation to the next. It carries stories of celebrations, traditions, motherhood, strength, and love.
For me, a saree has always felt like home.
I was born into a Maharashtrian family where sarees were a beautiful part of everyday life. My grandmother wore graceful nine-yard sarees, my mother always looked elegant in hers, and my Mothi Aai (Badi Maa) had a special love for cotton handloom sarees. Every festival, every family function, every happy occasion began with choosing a new saree.
One of my favourite childhood memories was annual Kal Niketan sale before the Ganpati festival my Mothi Aai Buying sarees wasn't shopping for her—it was celebrating life. The price never mattered. What mattered was how a saree made her feel.
She had a magical way of wearing even the simplest cotton saree with such elegance that it looked priceless.
As a little girl, I would eagerly help her fold her sarees, arrange them neatly in the cupboard, and sometimes drape them around myself while dreaming of growing up. Those colourful fabrics quietly became part of my childhood and unknowingly planted the seed for what would one day become Nivani.
In our home, sarees never reached the end of their journey. When they grew old, they were lovingly transformed into warm Godadis (traditional quilts), wrapping the next generation with the comfort of memories. Nothing was wasted because every saree carried a story.
Then life taught me one of its hardest lessons.
When my Mothi Aai was diagnosed with cancer, she had two bags filled with beautiful new sarees she had lovingly collected. She never got the chance to wear most of them.
Watching those untouched sarees remain folded forever broke my heart.
That day, I realized that a saree isn't meant to stay inside a cupboard waiting for a "special occasion." It deserves to be worn, celebrated, lived in, and remembered.
Years later, life tested me again.
What was meant to be a joyful family vacation turned into the most difficult chapter of our lives when my husband suffered a brain stroke. Overnight, everything changed. Along with caring for him and supporting my daughter's future, I knew I had to find the strength to rebuild our lives.
I had always dreamed of creating something of my own. I had worked as a professional, become a wife, a mother, and an entrepreneur at heart, but my love for beautiful fabrics and Indian craftsmanship had never left me.
This time, I decided to follow my heart.
That dream became Nivani.
I chose sarees because they have been a part of every chapter of my life. They remind me of my grandmother's grace, my Mothi Aai's unconditional love, and the courage I discovered within myself during life's most difficult moments.
Every saree we curate is chosen with the same care we would choose for our own family. We celebrate timeless Indian craftsmanship, breathable fabrics, handloom traditions, and elegant designs that make every woman feel confident, comfortable, and beautiful.
We don't simply sell sarees. We share memories.
We preserve traditions. We celebrate every woman who wears her story with pride.
Because one day, every saree becomes someone's beautiful memory.
Thank you for being part of ours.
Welcome to Nivani— "I don't want women to buy a saree and save it for someday. I want them to wear it today, celebrate themselves today, and create memories in it—because memories are far more precious than fabric."
